But the list of Angell’s influences is lengthy and definitely includes the Ramones. His mother, an avid Elvis fan, gave him a “Heartbreak Hotel” record as a child. ![]() “I got the better part of the deal and it’s better than swimming pools.”Īngell has numerous influences that have molded his songwriting, including playing with some of the godfathers of grunge rock in Seattle such as Alice in Chains and Mother Love Bone. “I’ve been playing for a very long time and to get some validations from the people you look up to and they want to share ideas with you and put their time playing music with you, is very validating, not the swimming pool or the shiny statue in my living room,” Angell said of his making music with his Walking Papers bandmates. Angell, vocalist and guitarist, and his bandmate keyboardist, Benjamin Anderson, of the popular Seattle-based band The Missionary Position complete the Walking Papers lineup. Duff McKagan, former bassist of legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, drummer Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees and Mad Season, two bands synonymous with the 1990s grunge rock movement out of Seattle, are part of Walking Papers. Walking Papers is made up of some well-recognized names in music.
